Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs)
Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion, or EMHCs (sometimes also known as Eucharistic Ministers),
are specially trained and commissioned members of the parish community
who are called upon to help distribute Holy Communion to the faithful
if there is not a sufficient number of Ordinary Ministers (bishops, priests, or deacons)
to distribute Holy Communion in a timely manner.
In addition to distributing Holy Communion during weekend and Holy Day Masses at St. Catherine of Siena Parish,
our Extraordinary Ministers bring Holy Communion to the residents of the Maefair Health Care Center
on the first Sunday of each month, and also to the homebound.
An orientation session will be conducted in the Fall for new and returning EMHCs.
For information, please contact Monica Zúñiga at the Parish Office, at (203) 377-3133, ext. 21.
